Annual Food Drive
Our Annual Food Drive typically runs
from the beginning of October until the middle of December. Our 2025
Food Drive has ended.
This season we collect food, personal
care items and children's gifts for needy people in our neighbourhood as
well as for On Rock. Please help make our food drive a success. As you
are able, please let us start by bringing in at least 1 non-perishable
food item per person per week. A Shopping List with suggested items for
each week is available
here. If
you would like, a small Christmas gift for children up to 10 years old,
wrapped and marked: boy (age) or girl (age). That Christmas gift,
together with mittens, scarves and hats can be placed on or near the
special Christmas tree in our Narthex.
Year Round
Food Drive
One of the programs
On
Rock Community Services runs is their food bank. There are many
needy families living on the West-Island and On Rock serves about 300
families every week. They also run a School Lunch Program and are
currently providing 35 lunches per week. There thus is a need for food
throughout the year. Here are a few items that On Rock always is in need
of on weekly basis:
• canned meat/fish,
• peanut butter/jam,
• dried beans/lentils/couscous,
• cereal,
• juice,
• oatmeal,
• oil,
• side dishes
A more complete list, including personal
care items, is posted on
this
On Rock site. You can bring your food and other items to
Ste-Genny's any time and we will make sure it gets delivered to On Rock
(see tribute
here).
In one year On Rock distributes over
$1,500,000 in food. They welcome financial donations to help run their
operations and to continue to make a difference in the people they
serve, as described on their
Financial
Donation page.
